Zine World
At one time in my life (I’m thinking the late 90’s) it seemed like everyone was making some kind of Zine. Every shop would have stacks of them on the floor, and almost everyone you met would be working on one (I guess that was before the world of blogs). Then, they just disappeared. An old coworker of mine insisted that they were out there—young girls hard at work cutting out pictures and xeroxing them at Kinkos for mass distribution, but I wasn’t, and still am not, convinced. So, I was happy to see that on Swell’s blog, they did a little plug for Electric. Lo and behold, the crazy company is adding a zine to their product lineup. Checking it out further, I saw that it isn’t a zine in the traditional sense (you have to print it from their site, first of all), but more of a glorified newsletter, but it’s pretty cool anyways. Not that you would expect anything other than cool and funny from the company that sponsors Bam, but hey, thought I’d point it out just in case. Check it out here—click on “Word” on the toolbar to download a copy.
Boy are you missing out and uneducated! there's a whole subculture of zinesters, thousands of them making zines at this very moment!
I, for one, should know, I'm one of them.
There's even a zine symposium in Portland that happens every year.

I guess I am uneducated in the Zine world! Had no idea that there was a symposium--is there a website on it that I can check out?
