Surfboards and Celebrities

I remember when I first saw Cameron Diaz and Justin Timberlake surfing. It was in a magazine like Star or US (I know, I read them, guilty pleasure) and I remember noticing that they were riding Evolution surfboards. It seems as if Evolution has taken their celebrity status and is now launching a line of boards which “were designed and inspired by celebrities like Jessica Beil, Justin Timberlake, Cameron Diaz, Tyra Banks, Geisele Bundchen, Leonardo Di Carpio, Shannon Elizabeth and Jennifer Aniston to name a few.” While any teen who loves the crooning of JT would probably die to ride his inspired board, you have to be a celebrity to afford one. The press release states that “a total of 5 Unique Exclusive Edition surfboards that range in sizes from  5'8" to 9'2" and are priced from $2800.00 to $4500.00.” And I thought my board was pricey at $500.00! It will be interesting to see how these boards do in the marketplace, and exactly who does the buying.

It would seem that with pricing like that they are really missing out on right market.
